New Minimalism through the prism of color

Coco Chanel once quoted that fashion should represented not only the way we live, but also what is happening around us and minimalism at it core personifies this concept by offering clothes that transcends seasons in a effortless manner. Take for example the spring 2011 collections by designers such as Celine, Jil Sander, MaxMara. Clean lines and simple silhouettes are evident in the ensembles strutting down their runways as these designers edged seamlessly into new minimalism with the use of bold colors to create outfits that speaks to the confidence and sensuality that all women possess. Whether is unexpected color combinations such as blue and burgundy (Celine 2011) or the use of monochromatic colors (Jil Sander, 2011 in cobalt blue or MaxMara, 2011 in orange) that portray the power of simplicity, the uniquely modern interpretation of minimalism incorporated in the outfits shown is this post are neither ostentatious nor overdone, but simply divine.

I officially have my PhD......
I am so proud to announce that I defended and passed my final oral dissertation defense and yes I officially have my PhD. Words cannot describe this feeling. I am so overwhelmed with joy and happy for my success, but I think I would trade it in in a heartbeat to hear my father say congratulations. He passed away 2 years ago and so my educational journey ended without him. I believe that where ever he is, he is truly proud of me for completing this monumental feat despite all the storms and obstacles and heartaches I had to endure. I am truly going to reach for the stars once in Paris and I owe it to my father to excel in everything I do from now till forever. I am not sure if I feel different yet, but I am definitely looking forward to Paris and pursuing my love for fashion through the prism of minimalism.....

Jules Lunmor: In Praise of Minimalism in Fashion

The vision is simply to design or wear clothes that are truly simple but with a lasting effect, bold but unpretentious and tailored with a touch of grace. A minimalist wears clothes with an air of confidence because each stitch, each hem, each button or zipper used to make the outfit simply exudes elegance. Fresh, clean, and effortless designs are the epitome of minimalism and this era transcends seasons as each silhouette is timeless.
Take for example, the outfit worn by Michele Obama at last night's State of the Union Address. This is truly minimalism at it's purest essence and the outfit speaks for itself. The color is unpretentious, the silhouette is simple, but sophisticated and she wears the outfit with an air of confidence. Rachel Roy's silk sheath dress evokes the kind of grace and timeless elegance that personifies my idea of minimalism in fashion.
In a world filled with so many designs and embellishments to choose from, minimalism makes sense because its chic and easy and evokes a type of ease that lasts over time, transcending one season after the other (something that would be ideal for many fashionista's budgets given the recent economic meltdown all over the world).
I am passionate about minimalism for many reasons. I love outfits that seem effortless and easy. Comfortable clothes with soft fitted styles that accentuate the curves of a woman's body. The outfit may be simple but the tailoring is impeccable and less is truly more. Minimalism to me is about fashion in its purest essence, whether in the form of classic clean silhouettes or daring cuts with undeniable elegance.
As I roam through the streets of Paris, my goal is to capture everyday women who evoke minimalism in their own unique way. I will also visit fashion designers to view collections in praise of minimalism. Whether on the train or at work, at tourist spots or at local restaurants, my vision with Jules Lunmor is to become the vehicle through which the world can learn to love and cherish effortless outfits and accessories that possess a kind of grace and timeless elegance.

Perfect simple pleated dress

Since i love to look at all types of stylish fashion and accessories (both expensive and affordable prices), well i came across this very simple pleated dress that i think is truly exquiste. I love the mandarin color, the caftan neckline and the tan belt and the pleats used to adorn the skirt portion. This dress is by Akris Punto. For those of you who love high end (expensive) clothes, check this out at neimanmarcus.com. I try to find an affordable version for others.
